David Farr
ImageSmythe’s founder and principal of art direction/graphic design, David Farr has a degree in industrial technology with a graphic arts management emphasis and 25+ years of experience.
Before starting the company, he worked as an art director and production manager for the College Textbook Division of West Publishing in St. Paul, Minn., and served as a graphic artist and photographer at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton, Wis.
David is a professed Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom aficionado, having worked with the Adobe Creative Suite and Creative Cloud since their inception.
David teaches InDesign, Photoshop, and Lightroom in Continuing Education courses at Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). He has taught these programs and many more to over 2000 people.
Since 2011, he has lead the Adobe InDesign and Photoshop workshops in MCAD's post-baccalaureate graphic design certificate program. You can see a current list of classes David is teaching this semester at MCAD here.
He also teaches customized tutorial sessions for businesses and individuals and offers Mac computer hardware/software setup and maintenance services.
In contrast to his love for all things digital, David is also an accomplished black/white photographer and darkroom technician.
He also writes and maintains ImageSmythe's twitter feed about timely publishing-related topics.
